Work, Work, Work (Weekend Update)

Work, Work, Work (Weekend Update)

Ever had a ‘busy’ weekend but you aren’t quite sure what you accomplished? That’s where I’m at. I worked Saturday and Sunday but have little to show for it. Oh well, that’s how it goes!

Friday, I had a haircut scheduled. My stylist text me on my way home letting me know she was running behind. The extra 45 minutes gave me some time to stop  at Whole Foods. I had chicken nachos on the brain after all this talk about the Super Bowl. I needed Jackson’s Honest sweet potato chips to make the dream work.

I pre-heated the oven to 375 degrees and threw a handful of chips, rotisserie chicken, a couple of tablespoons of salsa, homemade guacamole, a few diced black olives and red onion on a sheet pan. I baked the nachos for 10 minutes and dug in. I cleaned up after dinner and got ready for my hair cut.

Amanda cuts my hair dry, so it’s always super quick. She gave me a quick trim and I was on my way.

On my way home, I stopped at Nordstrom rack to look around. I’m in desperate need of new work shoes and they have an awesome select of shoes for a great price.  I didn’t have much luck, so I headed home.

I planned to have a chill night on Friday. The haircut was my big plan. I quickly changed in my PJs and glued myself to the couch to watch Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee. I discovered it the other day when Andrew was over. Obsessed.

I watched a couple of episodes and put myself to bed.

Saturday, I woke up and got ready for a day of work at the BMV. I wasn’t hungry when I woke up, so I made myself a cup of decaf coffee with some collagen and grabbed a Kind Pressed Bar and Simple Truth Green Juice to snack on.

Saturdays are usually crazy-busy at the license bureau and today was no exception. We close at 1 p.m. but ended up waiting on customers until 1:30. I got out of there around 1:45 and was home at 2 p.m. By that time, I was starving. (It’s days like these I am so glad I have prepared food in my fridge.) I made myself a big lunch of salmon, broccoli and roasted sweet potatoes. I dipped it all in a combination of Tessamae’s Creamy Ranch and lemon juice. I was still a little hungry after eating, so I snacked on a pink lady apple.

After lunch, I cleaned up, did some laundry and then headed to the gym. I did a quick workout:

My legs were Jell-O as I walked out of the gym. I went home, showered up and got to work on a blog post. I worked for a couple of hours and decided I needed chocolate. I went over to Whole Foods (which is across the street from my apartment) to pick up a treat. I had plans to go out with my friend Hannah later. I gave her a call on my way out, begging to stay in and drink wine. This weekend was pretty cold and I was in no mood to deal get dressed up and go to a bar. Luckily she was game. I grabbed a bottle of wine and some fruit before heading back to my place.

I was starting to get hungry again but was feeling a bit lazy. I heated up some rotisserie chicken and salami in the oven and grabbed a handful of roasted sweet potatoes. Nothing fancy but it did the trick. After dinner, I worked on the blog for a bit longer, put away some laundry and headed to Hannah’s.

We caught up while drinking a glass of wine and watching Australian reality TV on Netflix. I stayed until almost 1 a.m., we sleepily said our ‘goodbyes’ and I went home to crash.

Before heading to bed, I snacked on smoked turkey, salami and plantain chips.

Sunday, I got up, made some decaf and got to work on this blog post. I snacked on a few pieces of bacon and coconut milk yogurt with berries as I typed.

I wrote until I had to leave to pick up Andrew from the airport. He was in Arizona for a Bachelor party. I dropped him off and went back to work on the post. I was stuck in a couple of spots but the break gave me some time to hit refresh. I filled in the gaps, hit publish and called Dewey’s Pizza to order a Harvest Salad.

I grabbed the salad and headed over Andrew’s to watch the Super Bowl.

I am not really a sports person, but oh my gosh, what a game! If I’m being honest, I didn’t watch the whole thing. I left Andrew’s place around 9:30 p.m. I was fading fast, so I went home to get ready for bed. I woke up today to see the Eagles won. Not much of a surprise. They were all over Tom Brady last night. (That’s about as sports-y as I get, thanks for baring with me.) Anyway, this weekend was a little nuts but I got a lot of blog work done, which felt really good.

I hope you guys had a great weekend, too! Tell me about it in the comments!
